Pruning is done during early spring, however is not often required. It does not survive east of Houston, Texas unless very carefully situated on an airy, very well drained site. Newly installed plants should be irrigated daily during the first week, every 2 days during the 2nd and 3rd weeks, then for the next year twice weekly during the hot months and once weekly during winter. The year after that, every 2 weeks is preferrable during summer then after that only during severe drought.
