Mentha piperita ( Peppermint )
A rhizomatous perennial, reaching up to 3.5 ( rarely over 2 ) feet in height, that is native to Europe but has become naturalized over much of North America to as far north as Hearst, Ontario. The leaves are used for flavoring and can be harvested at any time of the growing season.
The tiny, pale purple flowers are borne on dense, upright spikes during early summer to mid-autumn.
