Sep 9 1775 A hurricane struck eastern Newfoundland killing 4000, making it Canada's deadliest natural disaster.

Jun 2 1829 Tornado levelled Guelph, Ontario, leaving the town inactive for 3 years.

Aug 7 1844 An F3 tornado struck Galt near Waterloo, Ontario.

Apr 27 1854 A severe snowstorm in southwest Ontario caused some boats to sink over Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

Apr 18 1855 An area between Collingwood and Niagara on the Lake was affected by tornados.

May 19 1860 A 500 meter wide tornado demolishes homes in Aurora, Ontario north of Toronto. 8cm hail also fell.

June 10 1880 A 200 meter wide tornado struck Listowel, Ontario.

May 15 1884 1/2 km wide tornado travelled from Elora to Goldstone, Ontario.

Jun 7 1885 10cm hail and tornado at Parkhill and St. Thomas, Ontario.


Jun 29 1897 An F2 tornado struck London, Ontario.

Jul 22 1998 9 + cm rainfall in 1 hour in London, Ontario.

Peterboro, Ontario gets massive flooding from all time record single day rainfall of 9.5 inches ( Trent University station ). The airport had much less rainfall but still exceeded an average July at 4 inches.

The worst blizzard since 1978 strikes southern Ontario from Sarnia to London and south. Hundreds of people were stranded overnight on the 402 freeway east of Sarnia during white out conditions which buried cars by morning. 32 inches of snow fell over 3 days in London, Ontario

SASKATCHEWAN

Jun 15 1887 16 cm rainfall in 1 day at Regina, Saskatchewan.

The most extreme weather year in recorded history. During 2011 Texas has their lowest yearly rainfall on record also combined with their hottest summer ever recorded. At the same time, the Ohio Valley and Northeast had their wettest year on record.
Some yearly precip totals for 2011 include:
Cheviot, OH 74 inches; Cincinati - 70 inches ( old record was 65.2 in. in 1847 ); Cleveland - 62.4 inches; Columbus - 53 inches; Fernbank, OH 71 inches; Miamitown, OH 72 inches ( old records for Ohio are Little Mountain - 71 inches in 1870 and Mt Healthy - 72 inches in 1880;
Youngstown - 51 inches ( tie with 1911 ).
In Connecticut some totals include: Hartford - 67 inches.
In Pennsylvania some records include: Allentown - 69.7 inches; Harrisburg - 72 inches ( old record was 60 in. in 1863 ); Philadelphia - 62.3 inches ( old record - 61.2 in. in 1867 ); Williamsport - 68.4 inches ( old record of 61.3 in 1972 ).
In Kentucky some precip. totals include: Frankfort - 63.4 inches; Lexington - 66 inches; Louisville - 66 inches.
In New Jersey some totals included: Newark - 68 inches.
In New York some totals include: Binghampton - 66 inches ( old record 49 in. in 2006 ). IN Vermont some totals include: Burlington - 50 inches.
Many places had all time record high temperatures during 2011 which was the hottest summer in the U.S. since the alltime record of 1936. Some records include:
Gila Bend AZ ( 120 F ); Blythe CA ( 120 F ); Fairbanks AK ( 97 F on July 11 ); Newark NJ ( 108 F ).

NEW ENGLAND

1635
The worst hurricane ever recorded struck New England and was estimated a Category 4 at eastern Long Island, then Category 3 as it passed over Rhode Island, Connecticutt and western Massachussetts. It was far worse than than the catastrophic 1938 "Long Island Express" hurricane. Forests of mature Oak/Hickory/Walnut were snapped and twisted. Homes were blown down and damage would still be visible 50 years later.
Hundreds of Native Americans and settlers were killed by the storm.
